Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
